chapter 11-12

lots of tensions arise in these two chapters as we are told of Lucy`s conditions. At the start of chapter 11 Lucy`s conditions is said to be getting worse as her mother unknowingly took off garlic flowers from her neck. This time Dr.Seward performs blood transfusion as Helsing offers his blood in the hope of saving Lucy`s life.

For now Lucy gets better. Lucy also writes in her diary that she is feeling much better now and is starting to like the smell of garlic which she used to dislike earlier. On another hand, Renfield`s case seems to get more interesting as the days passed by. Dr. Seward mentions that Renfield came to his room late at night with dinner knife in his hand and slit Dr. Seward’s wrist and licked the blood that feel on the floor and went away right after that. This is an interesting incident because from his actions we may have come to know that Renfield might be a vampire.

Lucy writes down the incident that took place the night before and hides it in her breast so that people may know about it in case she dies. She writes down that she was feeling restless due to the unknown noise that came from outside her room. After a while, her mom came and she asked her to keep her company. Then suddenly something broke the window and came inside of her room- it was a wolf. In fear, Lucy’s mom grabbed onto anything that she could find in order to save her dear life but unknowingly she pulled out the garlic flowers from Lucy`s neck. Next thing that Lucy could remember was that her mother was dead and was lying next to her.

Next morning, Dr. Seward comes to Lucy`s house to check on her because Helsing sent him a telegram stating him to. But, no one comes to open the door after him severely ringing the bell. After some time Helsing joins him. they break into Lucy`s home after finding no one. When they go inside they are shocked with what they saw. Inside, Lucy and her mother were lying lifelessly. It was too late for her mother but not too late for Lucy. They did everything they could to bring Lucy back to life. They gave her warm shower and performed another blood transfusion. This time the one to give her blood was Quincey Morris. Lucy looked much better after receiving some blood. they sent Arthur a telegram stating Lucy`s condition and her mom’s death.

Meanwhile Mina writes a letter to Lucy saying that Jonathan was doing a partnership business with Mr. Hawkins. From this letter we are also hinted that she may not know Lucy and her mother`s conditions she says that she wanted to come down to visit her and her mom because they were ill. Mina sends another letter again saying that Mr. Hawkins had passed away.

Arthur arrives at Lucy`s home and she finally speaks up. But later that day Lucy`s conditions gets worse and she finally dies. Everyone in the room is shocked with this. Dr. Seward also mentions that her canine teeth were getting longer and before her death Lucy had talked in a different manner like she wasn’t Lucy but some other girl. After her death Dr. Seward says that everything is over but Helsing confuses him by saying that it is just a mere beginning.
